Sen. Pat Roberts endorsed Republican gubernatorial candidate Kris Kobach for Kansas governor Tuesday.

Roberts, the senior U.S. senator from Kansas, said in a statement that Kobach’s “experience and leadership, our Kansas values and way of life will be preserved and protected.

“Kris will ensure our economy remains competitive and dynamic with good jobs for hardworking Kansans,” said Roberts.

Kobach, currently Kansas secretary of state, said he is honored to have Roberts’ endorsement.

“[Sen. Roberts] knows how important it will be to have a Kansas leader who will work with President Trump to make Kansas an affordable place to do business, create jobs, and raise a family,” Kobach said.
