A Parsons police officer has been fired after being arrested in an investigation involving allegations he secretly recorded a juvenile in a bathroom.
According to the Labette County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 2:20 a.m. Saturday, to a report that an individual had allegedly videotaped a female juvenile in a bathroom. Investigators collected video evidence and arrested Tyller White on suspicion of breach of privacy and official misconduct. The investigation remains ongoing.
The Parsons Police Department said it immediately launched an internal affairs investigation after learning of White’s arrest and worked alongside the sheriff’s office during the criminal investigation.
Following a review of the evidence, the department determined White’s conduct violated its standards of professionalism, integrity and ethical conduct, and terminated his employment.
“The trust our community places in its police officers is earned through integrity, accountability, and professionalism,” Police Chief Robert L. Spinks said in a statement. “When an employee’s actions fail to meet those standards, we have a responsibility to act decisively to maintain the confidence of the public we serve.”
White has been arrested on suspicion of the charges. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
