Update: RCPD identifies remains found in Ogden as Ashley Meiss

Update 10:20 a.m. 10/18/18

Following an autopsy on Monday, RCPD officials confirm that the remains found in Ogden on Saturday were those of Ashley Meiss. Her family has been notified by police.

Additionally, the release stated that the autopsy “showed no indication of foul play” in Meiss’ death.

As is standard procedure, a copy of the investigation will be sent to the county attorney. No further information is expected to be released to the public.

Update 10 a.m. 10/15/18

WIBW reports that Tom Lewis, father of the missing Ashley Meiss, said the remains were found in a wooded area behind her apartment complex. RCPD reached out to the family following their discovery of the remains.

Meiss has been missing since May. No positive identification has been made just yet.

The Riley County Police Department discovered human remains in Ogden Saturday, according to a press release.

RCPD found the remains in the 300 block of North Park Road in Ogden after receiving a tip at approximately 3 p.m.

The investigation is currently ongoing and no further information including gender or identity is available.
