Kansas State freshman guard Christianna Carr continues to receive accolades for her play last week, as she was named the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) National Freshman of the Week on Tuesday.

Carr is the first player in program history to earn the USBWA freshman of the week honor. Carr is the seventh Big 12 freshman since 2015 and the second this season to garner a national freshman of the week award.

For the week, Carr averaged 13.5 points on 52.9 percent shooting including a 6-of-12 effort from beyond the arc. She also averaged two steals and 2.5 rebounds.

Against Texas, Carr registered 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting including a 4-of-7 effort from beyond the arc. She also pulled in two rebounds and pocketed one steal in 32 minutes of action. This was the fourth time this season Carr has made four or more 3-point field goals in a game.

At Texas Tech on Saturday, Carr tallied eight points, three rebounds and three steals. Carr made a pair of 3-pointers against the Lady Raiders and knocked down a pair of free throws in the final minute of the game to help preserve K-State’s fourth quarter comeback win.

In her debut season, Carr is averaging 9.3 points and 2.7 rebounds and is second on the team with 30 three-point field goals made.
