With a furious fourth quarter rally and a dominant overtime session, Kansas State ended a three-game losing streak with a 72-62 overtime win over Kansas in the Dillons Sunflower Showdown. K-State has now won 11 of the last 12 meetings with Kansas, including six straight in Allen Fieldhouse.

Kansas State (14-9, 5-6 Big 12) sent the game to overtime with a 7-0 run in the final 1:54 of regulation. Peyton Williams converted a three-point play, followed by a Kayla Goth jumper with 1:28 to play to pull K-State within two, 60-58. K-State hauled in a rebound on a missed three-pointer from Kansas with 19 seconds left. Following a K-State timeout, Christianna Carr found Williams for a layup with a second remaining to tie the game.

In overtime, K-State outscored Kansas, 12-2, as Williams and Goth scored eight of the 12 points in the extra frame.

For the night, Williams and Goth each finished with a double-double. Williams carded a career-high 26 points with 13 rebounds and a career-best six steals. The 2019 Katrina McClain Award candidate tallied her 10th double-double of the season and the 17th of her career.

Goth notched 19 points, 10 assists and two steals. The 2019 Nancy Lieberman Award candidate notched her fourth double-double of the season and her 10th career game with 10 or more assists.

Kansas (12-9, 2-8 Big 12) was led by Austin Richardson with 16 points and three blocks. Christalah Lyons added 15 points and four steals.

Both teams played at a blistering pace in the first quarter, as Kansas held a 27-21 lead after the opening frame. K-State would hold an 18-16 lead with 3:41 remaining following a Williams layup, but Kansas used an 11-3 run to close the quarter to hold the lead.

K-State cooled off the hot shooting Jayhawks in the second quarter. The Wildcats held Kansas to 2-of-11 shooting in the second stanza and just seven total points to pull even at the half, 34-34. Williams and Goth scored nine of K-State’s 13 points in the quarter to tie the game after the first 20 minutes.

Both teams exchanged points at the start of the third quarter before Kansas broke a 40-40 deadlock with a 7-0 run to force a K-State timeout with 2:56 remaining in the third quarter. K-State crawled back into the game with a 5-0 run to conclude the third quarter and trail 49-45. Kali Jones started the rally with a shot-clock beating jumper before the Wildcats converted three free throws in the final minute.

K-State tied the game at 51, as Carr scored four of K-State’s first six points in the fourth quarter. Carr finished the night with eight points and four rebounds. Kansas used a 3-pointer from Kylee Kopatich and a layup from Richardson to force a K-State timeout trailing 56-51 with 7:25 remaining before K-State started its rally.

K-State ended the night shooting 40.0 percent (28-of-70) from the floor, while Kansas finished at 40.4 percent (23-of-57). K-State forced Kansas into 23 turnovers, which resulted in a 31-11 advantage in points off turnovers, which was the largest margin of the season for the Wildcats.
