    The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    MANHATTAN, KAN. –

    Officers filed a report for aggravated assault and unlawful discharge of a firearm near North 12th Street and Bluemont Avenue on April 3, 2020, at approximately 4:20 PM. Officers listed a 32-year-old male as the victim when he reported a known male suspect discharged a firearm during an argument. Lamarques Channel, 36, of Manhattan, was arrested in connection on offenses of aggravated assault, criminal discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon by felon and possession of marijuana. Channel was issued a total bond of $35,000.00 causing him to remain confined at the time of this report.

    Officers filed a report for aggravated burglary in the 2500 block of Farm Bureau Road in Manhattan on April 4, 2020, at approximately 6:15 PM. Officers listed a 27-year-old female and a 16-year-old male as the victims when an unknown male suspect entered the residence and attempted to steal a television. Police ask that anyone with information please contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

    Officers filed a report for aggravated criminal threat and aggravated arson in the 500 block of Yuma St. in Manhattan on April 4, 2020, at approximately 11:00 PM. Officers listed a 23-year-old male, a 20-year-old female, a 21-year-old female, and a 27-year-old male as the victims when it was reported a known male suspect made threats to set a fire. Dakeal Allen, 18, of Manhattan, was arrested in connection on offenses of criminal threat and aggravated arson. Allen was issued a total bond of $12,000.00 causing him to remain confined at the time of this report.
