Kansas health officials are recommending a voluntary 14-day quarantine to any Kansans who traveled to the Lake of the Ozarks area of Missouri over Memorial Day weekend.
Kansas Department of Health and Environment Secretary Dr. Lee Norman issued a statement Tuesday urging residents who traveled to the area to do the responsible thing and self-quarantine to protect their communities.
“The reckless behavior displayed during this weekend risks setting our community back substantially for the progress we’ve already made in slowing the spread of COVID-19,” he said.
The Central Missouri resort area gained national attention after video surfaced over the weekend showing large gatherings at the resort area, including many not practicing social distancing or using face coverings.
