    RCHD continues to see improvement in local coronavirus numbers

    Riley County continues to see improvement in the number of positive cases of coronavirus locally.

    Health officials announced no new cases Wednesday and the county remains at 60 total positive cases since mid-March. Of that total, six cases are currently active 53 people have recovered and one person has died. There are currently 83 pending test results and 828 people have tested negative for the virus. Ascension Via Christi Hospital had no positive patients as of Wednesday but were monitoring one person under investigation, showing symptoms.

    Riley County Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Andrew Adams tells KMAN, the last time Riley County had less than 10 cases was March 31, when there were five active cases.

    Pottawatomie County currently has 24 total cases, but just four active and two probables. The rest of the 17 cases are listed as recovered. The county currently has 12 pending test results and have tested 439 individuals.

    The numbers are vastly improved from one month ago on April 20, when Riley County had 24 active cases. The most active cases reported in a given day was on April 28, when Riley County had 25 active cases. The first reported case of coronavirus locally was reported two months ago on March 20.

    Statewide there are 8,539 total cases of coronavirus that have been reported since mid-March and 178 deaths. There are 760 people currently hospitalized statewide for the virus.
