    Have you voted yet?

If you’re like many local residents, chances are you probably have, but if not, more opportunities exist beyond 5 p.m. Friday including Saturday.

Advance voting is open 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Riley County Office Building and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pottawatomie County Clerk’s Office in Westmoreland. The final opportunity to advance vote will be 8 a.m. to noon statewide at county offices. In person voting at the polls will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Riley County Clerk Rich Vargo tells KMAN that as of Thursday, 7,762 ballots had been mailed, with 3,079 of those returned. Mail ballots must be postmarked by Tuesday (Election Day) to be counted, but can also be hand delivered to the County Clerk’s office or turned in on Election Day at your polling place.

As of Thursday, 561 Riley County residents have voted in advance. Pottawatomie County mailed 2,855 advance ballots and have had 200 walk in to the Clerk’s office to cast their votes.

State law requires voters to present a photo ID when casting a vote in person. The following documents are acceptable:

Driver’s license or ID card issued by Kansas or another state; U.S. Passport; U.S. Military ID; ID card issued by a Native American tribe; Employee badge or ID issued by a government office; Student ID card from an accredited postsecondary education institution in Kansas; Concealed carry license issued by Kansas or another state; or Public assistance ID card issued by a government office.

Some exemptions do apply, for more information, visit the Kansas Secretary of State website.
