Kansas Crop Progress And Condition 8/3/20

MANHATTAN, Kan. August 3, 2020 – For the week ending August 2, 2020, there were
3.3 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.
Topsoil moisture supplies rated 5% very short, 14% short, 66% adequate, and 15% surplus.
Subsoil moisture supplies rated 7% very short, 16% short, 67% adequate, and 10% surplus.

Field Crops Report: Corn condition rated 3% very poor, 8% poor, 28% fair, 45% good, and
16% excellent. Corn silking was 90%, ahead of 81% last year, and near 89% for the five-year
average. Dough was 53%, ahead of 35% last year and 41% average. Dented was 11%, near 7%
last year and 8% average.

Soybean condition rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 26% fair, 51% good, and 17% excellent.
Soybeans blooming was 79%, well ahead of 51% last year, and ahead of 70% average. Setting
pods was 55%, well ahead of 19% last year and 35% average.

Sorghum condition rated 2% very poor, 5% poor, 31% fair, 49% good, and 13% excellent.
Sorghum headed was 43%, well ahead of 21% last year, and ahead of 38% average. Coloring
was 3%, near 2% last year, and equal to average.

Cotton condition rated 2% very poor, 6% poor, 44% fair, 43% good, and 5% excellent. Cotton
squaring was 86%, ahead of 75% last year and 74% average. Setting bolls was 28%, ahead of
23% last year, and near 24% average.

Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 4% very poor, 10% poor, 33%
fair, 46% good, and 7% excellent.
