The Riley County Police Department is investigating a stabbing that occurred Thursday morning at about 8:15 a.m. in the 400 block of Leavenworth St.

Emergency workers reporting to the scene found a 34-year-old man with a stab wound to his chest. He was later transported to Ascension Via Christi Hospital, reportedly in critical condition.

As of Friday morning, officers listed a 42-year-old man as a suspect in the aggravated battery case, but have not identified him. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information, that could help with the investigation is encouraged to call RCPD or Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.

According to RCPD officials, the incident is unrelated to a report of a criminal threat that occurred in the 100 block of Bluemont Ave. Thursday morning. The criminal-threat incident is being investigated by the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s office.
