    The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    MANHATTAN, KAN. – 

    Officers filed a report for aggravated burglary in the 700 block of N. 9th St. in Manhattan on March 24, 2021, at approximately 11:28 a.m. Officers listed 20- and 22-year-old males a 21-year-old female as the victims when it was reported an unknown suspect broke into a residence and stole a Stoeger M3000 shotgun, a Nintendo Switch, and a credit card. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $970.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

    Officers filed a report for criminal use of a financial card in the 1000 block of S. Seth Child Rd. in Manhattan on March 24, 2021, at approximately 2:02 p.m. Officers listed a 39-year-old male as the victim when it was reported a 42-year-old female suspect illegally transferred money. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,000.00.

    Officers filed a report for rape in Manhattan on March 24, 2021, at approximately 6:56 p.m. Officers listed a 13-year-old female as the victim and a 15-year-old male as the suspect. Due to the nature of this crime, no further information will be released.

    Officers filed a report for theft by deception in the 100 block of Blue Earth Pl. in Manhattan on March 24, 2021, at approximately 11:20 p.m. Officers listed a 21-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown male suspect made a transaction with fake money. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $500.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.
