    Sunset Zoo begins summer hours

By KMAN Staff on March 25, 2021 Local News, Manhattan

Sunset Zoo in Manhattan, Kansas is now operating under their summer hours.

Melissa Kirkwood, Sunset Zoo Marketing and Development Officer, says the zoo is now open from 9:30AM to 5PM daily and those hours will continue through the summer. She adds that while the hours have extended they are still enforcing COVID-19 safety protocols.

“When you do enter Sunset Zoo, we do ask that you have a mask,” Kirkwood says. “If you can maintain six-foot of distance between you and other guests, you do not have to be wearing the mask, but when you can’t maintain that distance, we just ask that you have that mask available to you and your group.”

Along with masking and social distancing, Kirkwood tells KMAN they are still doing daily cleanings of all railings and other highly touched areas.

“We want it to be an open, good environment for you, and that’s what we’ve seen from the community that’s come to visit. They are just glad to have that outdoor environment to enjoy and see some really new and interesting things here at the zoo.”

For a full list of COVID protocols in place or any other information regarding the zoo visit sunsetzoo.com.
