    The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    MANHATTAN, KAN. – 

    Officers filed a report for theft and criminal damage to property in the 2600 block of Eureka Ter. in Manhattan on April 19, 2021, at approximately 8:15 a.m. Officers listed Larson Construction as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect stole a white 2014 GMC 2500 and damaged the fuel tank. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $9,500.00. The vehicle was later located in the 1000 block of S. Manhattan in Manhattan. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

    Officers filed a report for theft in the 2500 block of Farm Bureau Rd. in Manhattan on April 19, 2021, at approximately 11:24 a.m. Officers listed a 43-year-old male as the victim when it was reported a 43-year-old female suspect made unauthorized charges on a financial card. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,400.00.

    Officers filed a report for theft in the 1000 block of Westloop Pl. in Manhattan on April 19, 2021, at approximately 12:48 p.m. Officers listed Marshalls as the victim when it was reported a 40-year-old female suspect processed refunds for cash when no items were present. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,000.00. Magaly Melara-Flores, 40, of Manhattan was issued a Notice to Appear in connection for theft.

    Officers filed a report for aggravated assault, aggravated domestic battery and domestic battery in Manhattan on April 19, 2021, at approximately 1:01 p.m. Officers listed a 43-year-old female as the victim when it was reported a 61-year-old male suspect threatened and injured her. Jay D Walters, 61, of Valley Falls was arrested in connection on the offenses of aggravated domestic battery, aggravated assault and domestic battery. Walters was issued a total bond of $11,000.00 and is no longer confined at the time of this report.
