    The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    MANHATTAN, KAN. – 

    Officers filed a report for fraud in the 300 block of Highland Pointe Dr. in Manhattan on April 24, 2021, at approximately 11:52 a.m. Officers listed a 77-year-old female as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect scammed her. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $21,000.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

    Officers responded to the report of an injury accident near the intersection of E. Poyntz Ave. and Tuttle Creek Blvd. in Manhattan on April 24, 2021, at approximately 5:08 p.m. When officers arrived on scene they found a 2018 Ford Mustang driven by Jared Sexton, 52, of Manhattan had swerved into the oncoming lane causing a 2013 Chevrolet 1500 driven by Marcelino Molina, 45, of Manhattan to make an evasive maneuver jumping over the median, spinning, and striking a curb. Molina was transported to Via Christi for treatment of a head injury.

    Officers filed a report for theft in the 500 block of Richards Dr. in Manhattan on April 24, 2021, at approximately 7:13 p.m. Officers listed a 53-year-old female as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect stole her One Plus 8T cellphone. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $700.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

    Officers filed a report for aggravated battery, domestic battery, and failure to appear in Manhattan on April 24, 2021, at approximately 11:34 p.m. Officers listed a 24-year-old male and a 36-year-old female as the victims when it was reported 36-year-old female and a 24-year-old male suspects injured them. Calvon Brandley, 24, of Junction City was arrested in connection on the offenses of aggravated battery and failure to appear. Brandley is confined in the Riley County Jail on a total bond of $15,100.00.

    Officers filed a report for battery and criminal damage to property in the 1200 block of Moro St. in Manhattan on April 25, 2021, at approximately 1:41 a.m. Officers listed a 24-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect punched him and damaged an Apple iPhone X. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $700.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.
