After a year hiatus, Everybody Counts proceeded without a hitch.

The ninth annual event was held at Manhattan’s Douglass Community Recreation Center. The event offered free health screenings, food assistance and COVID vaccinations. Douglass Center DIrector Dave Baker said an event like this is beneficial to the community.

In addition to COVID vaccinations, other services were offered to event goers including dental, mental health, vision, hearing and sports physicals as well as education of other services that are offered to the public. Christal Pratt, Forensic Nurse at Asencion Via Christi, explains why they enjoy being at events like these.

The Flint Hills Breadbasket also contributes to the event by giving out information and food to those who need it. Client Services Coordinator Melissa Combs spoke with KMAN on some of the needs the breadbasket has currently.
