Manhattan city commissioners are being asked Tuesday evening to approve a three-year lease agreement with American Airlines for space at Manhattan Regional Airport.

The company has been operating on a month-to-month deal with the city dating back to August of 2015, paying according to terms of the previous contract. The new contract would raise rent on the airline by $1,000 a year by 2024, to nearly $18,000.

Commissioners are expected to vote in favor of a three-year deal with the company that provides e-scooters to areas of the city. Officials with LINK say the program generated over $31,000 in its first year, with more than 126,000 rides having taken place.

Hy-Vee’s owners are asking to be allowed to make changes to their building and the traffic pattern on the south side to allow for two new drive-thru lanes.. The grocer wants to utilize those lanes for fulfillment of online orders, shifting from their current setup where a temporary structure near the east edge of the parking lot is used to handle those.

After determining the Lee Elementary neighborhood district should be given a historic designation, the commission has the final approval of the ordinance that would make that decision official.

The city commission meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall. The agenda is shared below.
