    The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police. Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further. Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    MANHATTAN, KAN. – 

    Officers filed a report for theft in the 100 block of S. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. in Manhattan on August 24, 2021, around 7:17 a.m. Officers listed a 40-year-old female as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect stole her maroon 2008 Mazda CX9. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $10,000. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

    Officers responded to the report of an injury crash near the intersection of Stonehenge Dr. and Treesmill Dr. in Manhattan on August 24, 2021, around 9:51 a.m. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 2015 Acura RDX driven by Sushma Prankash, 66, of Manhattan had t-boned a 2001 GMC Sierra 2500 HD driven by Benjamin Ochoa, 32, of Manhattan at the intersection. Prankash was transported by EMS for treatment of minor injuries. Prankash was also issued a citation for failure to yield right of way at a yield sign.
