WICHITA, Kan. — The U.S. Marshals Services says a 60-day effort to reduce violent crime in the Wichita area led to more than 1,000 arrests and numerous drug and weapons seizures.
The Marshals Service said in a news release Wednesday that Operation Triple Beam-Wichita, which ended Sept. 5, involved numerous federal, state, county and Wichita law enforcement agencies. Operation Triple Beam is a national effort developed by the Marshal’s Service to reduce gang violence by arresting violent fugitives, gang members and those who have committed violent crimes.
The 1,072 arrests in the Wichita area involved 808 felonies and 264 misdemeanors, including 141 gang members.
