    Update: Pott. County authorities say suspect remains at large after search called off

    UPDATE as of Tuesday late afternoon
    According to the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office, a search of the area east of Tuttle Creek State Park, for a man wanted for fleeing and eluding, burglary and theft was called off late Tuesday afternoon.
    Officers searched for a white male who led authorities on a brief pursuit Tuesday morning, crashed a stolen vehicle, then fled on foot from the 7000 block of Chinkapin Circle.

    Only a vague suspect description has been released. The Sheriff’s Office described him as a medium build white male with a baseball cap.

    Authorities with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office and Kansas Highway Patrol are searching for a suspect who reportedly fled on foot following a pursuit Tuesday morning.

    Trooper Ben Gardner with the Kansas Highway Patrol tells KMAN that troopers were involved in a brief pursuit of a stolen vehicle around 10:30 a.m. The suspect fled on foot after crashing the vehicle in the 7000 block of Chinkapin Circle, in a rural area east of Tuttle Creek State Park.

    According to the Sheriff’s Office, the suspect is a white male wearing a backward baseball cap and is wanted on charges of fleeing and eluding, burglary and felony theft.

    Residents who live in the area are asked to stay inside and call 911 or 785-457-3353 if you see any suspicious activity.
