    Original Story – 10:50 a.m. Wednesday

A 7 year-old boy was struck by a car Wednesday morning while waiting at a bus stop.

It happened just after 8 o’clock near the intersection of Tuttle Cove Road and Terra Heights Drive. Riley County Police Department spokesman Aaron Wintermote confirmed the child was transported by Riley County EMS to Ascension Via Christi and then airlifted by Life Star to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

According to Riley County Public Information Officer Alice Massimi, the child is in serious condition but his injuries were not believed to be life threatening. She reminds the public to keep an eye out for children, especially in the hours before and after school.

Bergman Elementary Principal Steve Koch confirmed via the school’s Facebook page that the child is a student at Bergman.

    RCPD continues to investigate.
