Dust off your skates, the ice rink is opening soon

November in Manhattan means cooler weather, holiday season, and ice skating.

Manhattan Parks and Recreation will be opening the ice skating rink later this month at Wefald Pavilion. Sydni Baker, recreation specialist, says its really easy to take part in all the fun, even if you’ve never skated before.

“You come in, you rent your skates, if you need them or you can bring your own if you have your own, and your admission as well,” Baker says. “Once you are there, you are on the ice. We’ve got staff with you, so if you have questions or need some guidance on any tips and tricks or that kind of thing, then our staff is happy to help.”

Baker reminds everyone to wear a coat and gloves when you come. She says that aside from just skating on your own, the rink offers classes.

“Skating lessons, we did add mini-sessions this year. So we’ve got two sessions of two lessons for parents that want to come out and just do a quick get back in the swing of things after not skating for a year.”

The ice rink opens on Saturday, November 13 at 1PM. Admission is $3.50 and those needing skates, rentals are an additional $3.50.

The rink will be open from 4-7PM Wednesday through Thursday and 1-7PM on Saturday and Sunday.
