    The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police. Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further. Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    MANHATTAN, KAN. – 

    Officers filed a report for aggravated battery, aggravated assault and interference with LEO near the intersection of N. 9th St. and Humboldt St. in Manhattan on January 8, 2022, around 4:13 p.m. Officers listed 30-, 48- and 58-year-old males as the victims when it was reported a 39-year-old male threatened two of the victims with a knife and cut the 58-year-old victim on the cheek. Benjamin Lewis, 39, of Manhattan was arrested in connection for aggravated battery, aggravated assault and interference with LEO. He is currently confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $21,000. The 58-year-old victim was seen by EMS on scene but did not require transport.

    Officers filed a report for fleeing or attempt to elude LEO near the intersection of N. 12th St. and Laramie St. in Manhattan on January 9, 2022, around 1:59 a.m. Officers attempted to stop a white 1997 Acura Integra that was driving in the wrong direction in the 1100 block of Laramie St. When officers activated emergency lights and sirens, the car fled at a high rate of speed north on Juilette St. The car was later located in the 300 block of Holly Pl. but the driver, a 27-year-old male suspect, ran from the car and was not located. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.     Officers filed a report for aggravated battery and aggravated assault in the 800 block of N. 4th St. in Manhattan on January 9, 2022, around 2:13 a.m. Officers listed a 23-year-old male and a 24-year-old female as the victims when it was reported an unknown male suspect pulled a gun on the male victim as he walked by the suspect who was a passenger in a car in the McDonald’s drive-thru line. A separate male suspect driving the car hit the female victim in the leg with the car as it fled the area. The female victim refused treatment by EMS. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.     Officers filed two reports for theft in the 7700 block of Stockdale Park Rd. on January 9, 2022, around 8:26 a.m. Officers listed 45- and 78-year-old males as the victims when it was reported an unknown suspect stole the 45-year-old victim’s black 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 and the 78-year-old victim’s black 2008 Cadillac CTS. The estimated total loss is $5,000 for the Dodge Ram and $8,000 for the Cadillac CTS. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.     Officers filed a report for burglary in the 2200 block of College Ave. in Manhattan on January 9, 2022, around 10:12 a.m. Officers listed a 23-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect stole a Glock 17 Gen 4 handgun, ammo and a gun magazine from his apartment. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $515. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.     Officers filed a report for theft in the 100 block of Manhattan Town Center in Manhattan on January 9, 2022, around 1:18 p.m. Officers listed Ulta Beauty as the victim when it was reported two unknown female suspects stole 10 bottles of woman’s fragrances. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,246. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.     Officers filed a report for theft in the 300 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd. in Manhattan on January 9, 2022, around 6:50 p.m. Officers listed Best Buy as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect stole an Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,100. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.     Travell Hairston, 30, of Sacramento, California, was extradited to the Riley County Jail from the Sacramento County Jail and arrested for two Failure to Appear (FTA) warrants. One FTA warrant is connected to an aggravated assault in the 1300 block of Fremont St. in Manhattan on September 15, 2019, in which Hairston is alleged to have shot a gun inside a house during a party. The other FTA warrant is connected to Hairston’s arrest on February 12, 2020, for distribution charges. Hairston was also arrested for a domestic battery and interference with LEO in connection to an August 26, 2021 incident in which he allegedly battered a 28-year-old female then fled from officers as they attempted to detain him. He is currently confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $615,00.
