    The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police. Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further. Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    MANHATTAN, KAN. – 

    Officers filed a report for burglary in the 300 block of N. 16th St. in Manhattan on January 10, 2022, around 8:27 a.m. Officers listed DP Construction and Affordable Electric as the victims when it was reported an unknown suspect stole two rolls of electrical Romex wire. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $640. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

    Officers filed a report for theft and criminal use of a financial card in the 600 block of 3rd Pl. in Manhattan on January 10, 2022, around 9:28 a.m. Officers listed Meritrust Credit Union and a 50-year-old female as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect stole her wallet after she left it on the counter of Starbucks in HyVee and used her debit card at Target to make three purchases. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,420. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

    Officers filed a report for aggravated criminal damage to property in the 1100 block of Westloop Pl. in Manhattan on January 10, 2022, around 1:03 p.m. Officers listed Brixmor Property Group and Bellus Academy as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect climbed on the roof of Bellus Academy and damaged an HVAC system in attempts to steal copper piping. The suspect also spray-painted graffiti on the backside of the building. The estimated total loss associated with this case is still being determined.

    Officers filed a report for aggravated assault and domestic battery in Manhattan on January 10, 2022, around 9:22 p.m. Officers listed 15- and 21-year-old females as the victims when it was reported a male suspect threatened the 21-year-old victim with a knife and slammed the 15-year-old victim’s foot in a door, she refused treatment from EMS.
