Monday’s In Focus featured KMAN’s monthly visit with the Riley County Historical Museum as well as a preview of the upcoming Little Apple Pride Parade and Festival.

For the first three segments in the program, Nick was joined by Museum Director Allana Parker to talk about Manhattan City Park history. Conversation flowed from the park’s founding in the earliest days of settlement to the Pioneer Log Cabin and Tattarax Monument. Parker also shared information on the history of Johnny Kaw and his statue located in the park’s southeast corner.

The last segment featured Little Apple Pride Co-Chair Jonathan Mertz to preview the parade and festival planned for Saturday, April 23. The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. starting at the swimming pool parking lot and ends at Wefald Pavilion. Entertainment, food and vendors will be on-site through 4 p.m.

Tuesday’s episode will feature Manhattan City Manager Ron Fehr and City Commissioner Wynn Butler to preview the evening’s legislative session.
