This year’s Baking competition at the Riley County Fair was cinnamon rolls, and the judges enjoyed their sweet assignment on Sunday. Riley County Commissioner John Ford joined Founder/Publisher Tyler Jackson of Manhattan City Lifestyle Magazine to judge the competition. The two enjoyed every entry, awarding a purple ribbon (excellent quality) to each.

Manhattan’s Audrey Henderson shared why she enjoyed practicing for the competition.

The eleven entrants were mostly adults, but one stood out in every category, earning the Champion award. 9-year-old Henderson reacted to her win, and gave advice on how to make the best rolls.

Henderson’s mom, who also competed, tried to give recipe pointers to her daughter. She politely refused because she wanted to do it her way. Maybe next year, Mom can get some pointers from the Champion!
