Two former Wamego teachers appeared in Pottawatomie District Court Tuesday morning.
51-year-old Allen and 55-year-old Deborah Sylvester appeared in front of Judge Erich Campbell. Each are charged with unlawful sexual relations involving a student who was 17, later turned 18, during the 2020-21 school year. On May 31st, the married couple resigned their positions as teachers. Allen was a middle school Science teacher, and Deborah taught Math at the high school in USD 320.
Honorable Campbell ordered a no-contact order between both defendants and the alleged victim. A no-contact order was already in place for Allen for his case in Wabaunsee County.
The Sylvesters remain on bond and return to court September 13, again before Judge Campbell.
