Officers filed a report for burglary in the 1000 block of Fremont St. in Manhattan on August 6, 2022, around 3:00 p.m. A 23-year-old male and a 24-year-old female were listed as the victims when it was reported a 29-year-old male had previously entered their unlocked car and stole a Hudson 9mm. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,000. The gun was recovered when Christopher Cuchy, 29, of Manhattan was arrested in the 1100 block of Moro St. in Manhattan on August 5, 2022, around 6:00 p.m. for criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a firearm while under the influence, and unlawful discharge of a firearm in city limits after he shot a gun into the ground near the area of Laramie St. and N. 8th St. and was found to be intoxicated while still in possession of the stolen gun. Cuchy remains confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $7,000.
Officers filed a report for criminal damage to property in the 1100 block of Bluemont Ave. in Manhattan on August 6, 2022, around 4:00 p.m. Popeyes Chicken was listed as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect threw a rock through one of their north-facing windows. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $5,000.
