Monday’s edition of In Focus featured guests from the Sunset Zoo and the Flint Hills Veterans Coalition.
The program began with a visit by Sunset Zoo Marketing and Development Officer Melissa Kirkwood. She recapped the Brew at the Zoo fundraiser, which drew in close to $45,000 for conservation efforts, and looked ahead at the Zoo’s Spooktacular event just under a month away. Kirkwood also highlighted some new feline residents in the Zoo’s care.
The second half of the show welcomed Chuck and Melody Sexton from the Veterans Coalition. The duo discussed the upcoming Veteran’s Day Parade, billed as the largest in Kansas, and highlighted this year’s focus on Vietnam War-era veterans. Col. (Ret.) Leroy Stutz of the USAF will be speaking as the keynote in the event’s Ceremony of Honor, scheduled at the conclusion of the parade at 11 a.m. in Peace Memorial Auditorium.
