After losing his entire 2021 football season to injury, Kansas State offensive lineman Taylor Poitier suffered another injury in his 2022 debut that will keep him out for the remainder of the season once again.

The news was shared by head coach Chris Klieman during his weekly press conference on Tuesday when asked by KSO’s Derek Young.

Poitier went down and was unable to come to his feet following the play where Deuce Vaughn drew a facemask penalty. The South Dakota defender that ripped the running back to the ground by his helmet also leg-whipped the K-State right guard.

It was thought to be a knee injury and that was confirmed by Klieman.

“It’s a cruel thing,” Klieman said. “He tore a knee again and he will be out for the season. It’s awful. Sometimes the cruelest things happen to the best kids. It was confirmed with us on Sunday afternoon. He will be lost for the season. My heart goes out for him because of all he did to get himself back. He will get surgery once we get swelling and stuff down.”

He was originally a three-star recruit out of Bishop Miege High School that signed onto Klieman’s first class. Poitier is someone that has had a lot of promise since the first day he walked onto the Kansas State campus. They’ve been excited about him for a while.

Offensive line coach Conor Riley hasn’t held back praise for him at all. He has called Poitier an all-conference talent on more than one occasion and quipped during fall camp, “You guys are going to love watching Taylor Poitier play football.”

Unfortunately, he just has fallen victim to the injury bug twice. It will be sophomore Hadley Panzer that steps into his shoes on the right side of the offensive line between Hayden Gillum and Christian Duffie versus Missouri.
