The Manhattan-Ogden School Board has approved a superintendent contract for Eric Reid, to take effect later this year as part of an ongoing succession plan.
Board members met in executive session for about 15 minutes Wednesday night and unanimously approved a two-year contract for Reid, with an annual salary of $205,000, according to Board President Curt Herrman.
The board, over the past several months, has been working on a succession plan to allow Reid to succeed Marvin Wade, who announced his retirement in November, effective June 30, the end of his current contract.
Reid, the current USD 383 assistant superintendent, had emerged as a finalist in early 2022 for a superintendent position in Spring Hill. Herrman indicated a desire last spring to work toward a succession plan that would allow Reid to be elevated upon the eventual retirement of Wade, working with board vice president Darell Edie to iron out details of the transition process.
Reid will ascend to the top job on July 1.
In other business Wednesday, the board agreed to extend the implementation of the current COVID-19 Pandemic Response Plan in a 7-0 vote at their meeting Wednesday.
The plan remains unchanged from the revisions made back in September. The board agreed that changes to the plan were not warranted due to the fact that the county remains outside of the “high incidence” category.
Additionally, action was taken on the current interior design project for the College Hill and Eugene Field Early Learning Centers.
The purchase of materials and fees for the project in the amount of $256,124.33 was approved in a 6-1 vote; Board Member Christine Weixelman opposed.
The board will meet again for their regularly scheduled meeting on January 18th at the Robinson Education Center.
