Construction projects heat up in Manhattan

By AJ Shaw on June 20, 2023 Local News, Manhattan, Riley County

As the weather gets warmer, construction projects are gaining steam across the city of Manhattan this month.

Currently on Fremont Street, a new bus stop is under construction near City Park. The project is expected to cost $2.8 million.

Manhattan city manager Ron Fehr says the project is significant and says a new additional waterline was recently installed.

Construction is also ongoing at the intersection of Juliette Avenue and the 600 block of Poyntz Avenue. The block was reopened for traffic earlier this month as a two-way stop and will remain until July.

The goal of the project is to construct a new traffic signal along with new decorative crosswalks and sidewalks. Fehr says the road work is completed.

The overall project is expected to cost about $1 million.
