Officers responded to the report of a domestic situation near the intersection of S. Manhattan Ave. and Fair Ln. in Manhattan on May 31, 2023, around 7:00 a.m. After arriving on scene, officers found an 18-year-old man had threatened to shoot a 43-year-old man known to him, prevented him from leaving a residence by standing in front of his car, and took the key from his car and refused to give it back. The suspect was also found to be in possession of opiate pills that had been reported stolen by him and drug paraphernalia. Darryl Klemick, 18, of Manhattan was arrested in connection for criminal threat, possession of stolen property, criminal restraint, criminal deprivation of property, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of an opiate, and two counts of theft. Klemick remains confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $61,000.

Ronald Saunders, 22, of Leawood was arrested on May 31, 2023, around 8:45 a.m. on his Riley County District Court warrant for failure to appear. This warrant stems from Saunders’s failure to appear in court for original charges of aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery, violation of a protection order and domestic battery. Saunders remains confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $12,000.

Jarman Morgan, 45, of Manhattan was arrested on May 31, 2023, around 9:30 a.m. on his Riley County District Court warrant for two counts each of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery. This warrant stems from two previously unreported stabbings occurring in the summer months of 2020 and spring months of 2021 in Manhattan. Morgan is reported to have stabbed the same 35-year-old man on these occasions. The man and Morgan are known to each other. The victim did not receive medical care for either of the stabbings and is still alive today. Morgan remains confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $100,000.

Justin Swartz, 42, of Kansas City was arrested on May 31, 2023, around 5:00 p.m. on his five Johnson County District Court warrants. Swartz remains confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $78,000.
