The Kansas State University College of Business held the 12th annual C. Clyde Fun Run and Midge’s Mile Walk on Saturday at Frank Anneberg Park.

The annual event is a fundraiser for local nonprofit Shepherd’s Crossing. Organizers Saturday said they expect this year’s money raised will reach $25,000.

Organizer and Assistant to the Dean of the College of Business at K-State, Melanie Horton, explains how the event came to be.

Community member participation has fluctuated through the years, however, many participants are committed to running every year. Michaela Crowe, a sophomore at K-State, says she has participated in the event since high school, and feels connected with the community because of it.

The run is named after C. Clyde, the first Dean of K-State’s College of Business. The 100-year-old is a tireless community volunteer, and attended the run on Saturday. He explains that organizers have been working hard to get as many people involved as possible.

Shepherd’s Crossing provides budget counseling and financial support for utilities, rent, and prescription medicine to residents of Riley County and St. George. Fun Run participant Bronwyn Fees says that Shepherd’s Crossing is a special part of the community.
