Day three of murder trial starts this morning

Day two of a murder trial for Tremelle Montgomery was held Wednesday in Riley County District Court.
During the afternoon session, the state called a number of witnesses to the shooting of Joshua Wardi on Feb. 5, 2022. One witness testified being directly across the street the moment the shooting occurred, noting he saw the shooter then exit the area to the west and gave a description to an RCPD officer.

One officer testifed about statements Montgomery made during an ambulance ride to Ascension Via Christi, after he was shot in the leg by a police officer. The officer confirmed a statement made by Montgomery, which the judge ruled admissable as there was no attempt by the officer to get that information.

The trial continues in Riley County District Court, and is expected to continue through Monday.

Montgomery stands charged with a single count of first-degree murder and three counts each of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault.
