A former USD 383 paraeducator is expected to be sentenced Thursday in Riley County District Court.

Aaron Zachry pleaded guilty to separate charges of indecent liberties with a child and sexual exploitation of a child on Jun. 26 before Judge Kendra Lewison.

He previously pleaded not guilty to 37 counts in December 2022, but agreed to the new plea agreement after similar charges were dropped in Geary and Pottawatomie counties.

Zachry was arrested at the Northview Pool in June 2021 for separate incidents that had occurred in June 2020 and March 2021.

He is the second former district employee to plead guilty to child sex crimes in the past year. Former USD 383 preschool nurse Joshua Penabaz was sentenced in July to life in prison for sex crimes

The sentencing hearing will begin at 9 am before Judge Lewison.
