The Manhattan-Ogden School Board approved its 2024 budget Wednesday evening, passing on a 6-1 vote.
The budget includes a 60.095 mill levy, down a half mill from the previous year, but also accounts for over 10% increases in assessed valuations. All told, the district intends to levy approximately $27.8 million in taxes, up about 8.4% from last year.
Board member Darell Edie was among the majority supporting the final budget.
The board’s public hearing on the budget lasted close to an hour, with resident Gary Olds questioning the board and district administrators about details of the school budget process. Board member Brandy Santos supported the budget’s passage.
Board member Christine Weixelman was the lone board member to vote against the overall budget and supplemental general fund and also voted against the district exceeding the revenue neutral rate.
Roughly $27.8 million in taxes will be levied in the new budget.
