The Belvue Bridge sustained more damage this past weekend after a drunk driver struck a guardrail on the bridge.

At Monday’s Pottawatomie County Commission meeting, Assistant Public Works Administrator Lance Forgy noted he received a call late Friday night from the Wabaunsee County roads supervisor about an abandoned truck on the side of the bridge.

Forgy says the driver was arrested later that night in Paxico.

An official with the Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s Office told KMAN Tuesday that the driver, Jerid Sutton, was arrested on charges of DUI, failure to stop at an accident, expired registration and transporting an open container. The Sheriff’s Office did not provide Sutton’s age or hometown.
