Indianapolis, IN – Former K-State men’s basketball players Markquis Nowell and Keyontae Johnson have been selected to play in the NBA G League Next Up All-Star game next month.

Nowell, playing for Toronto’s affiliate Raptors 905, is averaging 15.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in the G League.

Johnson, drafted in the 2nd round by the Oklahoma City Thunders, is averaging 20 points & 6.9 rebounds for G League affiliate Oklahoma City Blue.

Speaking Monday to the media, KSU men’s basketball coach Jerome Tang couldn’t be happier for them.

This is the second year that the NBA G League will host the Up Next Game. The event will feature a new tournament-style format where four teams of seven players will have an influencer general manager charged with drafting their squad, customizing their teams’ jersey, and streaming the game on their own digital platforms.

The NBA G League Up Next Game will be held on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 12:30 p.m. at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. The game will stream live on the NBA G League YouTube page as well as the NBA App.
