    11,000 people will pack Bramlage Coliseum Sunday afternoon as the 4-seed K-State Wildcats will host the 5-seed Colorado Buffaloes in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

    The spotlight hasn’t been this bright on K-State women’s basketball in almost 20 years. It has been 22 years since the ‘Cats made it to the Sweet Sixteen. Standing in K-State’s way is 23-9 Colorado. A team that reached the Sweet Sixteen last year and has said multiple times this week that they will not be intimidated by K-State’s packed house. The biggest crowd Colorado played in front of this year was 11,338 at home when they were the #2 team in the nation, but lost to UCLA 76-68.

    In the first round, Colorado beat Drake 86-72. K-State’s defense, one of the best in the nation, will face off against the 27th best scoring offense in the country at 75.8 points per game. All American center Ayoka Lee will draw another tough matchup. The Buffs are led by 6’3 forward Aaronette Vonleh who leads with 14.2 points per game. She had 18 points and 10 rebounds against Drake. The K-State guards will have to deal with Colorado All-American point guard Jaylyn Sherrod. She is averaging 13.1 points on a .450 field goal percentage, and leads in assists with 5.0 per game and steals at 2.2. Against Drake, Sherrod had 16 points, eight assists and three steals.
