An investigation is underway after an individual sustained a gunshot wound this weekend in Aggieville.

According to the Riley County Police Department, officers on routine foot patrol early Sunday morning heard a possible gunshot coming from the 1100 block of Moro Street. The incident occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. Responding officers found a 22-year-old man being detained by a bouncer.

Police say upon initial assessment, the subject had sustained a head injury, to which they called EMS and escorted the man to the Aggieville Substation for further evaluation. Police later discovered the man had a gunshot wound to his right thigh. It is unclear whether the man shot himself or if the man was shot by another individual. That will be determined through the investigation. The man, whose name has not been released, was transported to Via Christi for further treatment. The man’s condition was not immediately provided.

Police say this in an ongoing investigation and are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers.
