As students depart for summer, public works officials eye key work areas in Manhattan

With students leaving Manhattan for the summer, city crews will be hard at work on construction projects beginning this week.
As previously reported, the full intersection closure at Denison and Kimball goes into effect Monday as only local traffic to NBAF and Meadowlark Hills will be able to stay on Kimball from North Manhattan Ave. City officials say all other traffic on Kimball will be diverted south.
The final closure will allow work to begin on the third and final part of the final phase of the ongoing North Campus Corridor project.
The official detour for Denison, according to city staff, will be south on College Avenue from Marlatt Avenue, then east on Claflin Road, then back to Denison. The official detour for Kimball from Tuttle Creek Boulevard will be south on North Manhattan Avenue, then west on Claflin Road, then north on College Avenue back to Kimball Avenue proceeding west.

City of Manhattan to crack down on potholes again
The City’s Street and Stormwater Divisions will also initiate a citywide “pothole blitz,” aiming to exclusively patch potholes throughout Manhattan. Some of the problem spots include Anderson/Bluemont, Poyntz Ave and Fort Riley Blvd.
The goal is to fill all potholes in a timely manner, targeting May 17 or May 20 for completion.
    Anderson Ave construction
Also beginning Monday, the outside westbound lane of Anderson Ave. will be closed for about 10 days, as part of ongoing North Manhattan Ave. improvements.

Westbound traffic on Bluemont/Anderson Avenue will be diverted to the inside lane, but this closure should not affect current traffic flows on North Manhattan Avenue.
