Jobless rates are up all across the region according to data that was recently released by the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL).
The unemployment rate for Riley County is up half a percentage point from April at 3%. Geary County saw a jump of 0.6% from 3.7% in April to 4.3% in May.
Pottawatomie and Wabaunsee Counties are also up from April with Pott County having an unemployment rate of 2.5% and Wabaunsee having a 3% unemployment rate.
In general, the state of Kansas saw an unemployment rate of 2.8% in May, unchanged for the state since April and below the national average of 3.9%. Kansas also has one of the nation’s lowest unemployment rates, trailing Montana and New Hampshire who have unemployment rates of 2.5% and 2.6% respectively.
