MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State women’s basketball head coach Jeff Mittie announced the complete non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season on Thursday.
The Wildcats’ non-conference slate features 10 home games, including a visit from Big East foe Creighton, participation in the 2024 Ball Dawgs Classic in Henderson, Nevada, a visit to 2024 NCAA Tournament participant Texas A&M and a neutral-site matchup against Middle Tennessee State in the Bill Snyder Basketball Classic in St. Joseph, Missouri.
“This is one of the most competitive schedules we have been able to put together,” stated Mittie about the slate. “We are facing teams with outstanding NET numbers, four teams that won over 25 games last year and teams with veteran rosters coming back. This will challenge us in preparation for a highly competitive Big 12.”
K-State’s 2024-25 non-conference schedule includes eight games against teams that reached the postseason in 2023-24, including five teams that played in the NCAA Tournament (Creighton, Duke, Green Bay, Middle Tennessee State and Texas A&M) one team that played in the WBIT (Belmont) and two teams that played in the WNIT (Central Arkansas and USC-Upstate).
K-State officially begins its 57th season of action with a five-game home stand starting on Monday, November 4, as the Wildcats host Green Bay. This will be the seventh meeting in the series, as the Wildcats are 4-2 against the Phoenix. The last meeting between the programs came on December 5, 2007, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, a 68-56 Green Bay win.
Green Bay completed the 2023-24 season with a 27-7 overall record and a 17-3 record in the Horizon League and won the Horizon League tournament crown to reach the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
The Wildcats will continue the home stand on Thursday, November 7, as the Wildcats host Belmont. This will be the first meeting in the series between the programs.
Belmont finished the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 26-9 and a 17-3 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference, finishing second to league champion, Drake.
On Thursday, November 14, K-State will host Creighton at 5:30 p.m., in Bramlage Coliseum for the first time since Dec. 9, 2008. The Wildcats lead the all-time series, 15-5. The Bluejays finished the 2023-24 season with a 26-6 overall record, including a runner-up finish in the Big East with a 15-3 mark and a trip to the second round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
The Wildcats then host Little Rock on Monday, November 18. K-State will welcome the Trojans to Manhattan for the third time in the history of the series and the first time since Dec. 16, 2017. The Wildcats lead the all-time series between the schools, 4-1, winning the last matchup 77-39 on November 11, 2023, in Little Rock.
Little Rock, which will be led in the 2024-25 season by first-year head coach Steve Wiedower who took over for 21-year head coach Joe Foley who retired in July. The Trojans ended the 2023-24 season with a 12-18 overall record and an 11-7 record in the Ohio Valley Conference.
K-State caps its five-game home stand with an inaugural meeting with Milwaukee on Wednesday, November 20. The Panthers registered a 16-16 overall record and a 10-10 mark in the Horizon League.
During the Thanksgiving holiday, the Wildcats will make its first appearance in the 2024 Ball Dawgs Classic at Lee’s Family Forum in Henderson, Nevada. The games will take place on November 25 and November 27, 2024. The Wildcats will face Duke on November 25 at 2 p.m. (CT) and will face either Oklahoma or DePaul on November 27. This will be K-State’s second meeting in the series with the Blue Devils, the first coming on November 27, 2004, at the 2004 Junkanoo Jam in Freeport, Bahamas.
Duke finished the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 22-12 and an ACC mark of 11-7. The Blue Devils reached the 2024 NCAA Regional Semifinals before falling to UConn, 53-45.
The Wildcats will begin the month of December with a visit from Central Arkansas on Sunday, December 1, at 3:30 p.m. This will be the sixth meeting between the programs, as the Wildcats own a 5-0 lead in the series. The teams last squared off on Nov. 7, 2022, in Manhattan, an 83-43 K-State win.
Central Arkansas finished the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 21-12 and an Atlantic Sun record of 11-5. The Sugar Bears played in the 2024 WNIT, falling to eventual champion Saint Louis in the first round.
K-State continues the three-game home stand by welcoming in Eastern Illinois on Tuesday, December 3. This will be the second meeting between the squads and the first since a 67-49 K-State win on Nov. 25, 1994.
The Wildcats complete the home stand against USC-Upstate on Thursday, December 5. This will be the first meeting in the series between the programs. The Spartans finished the 2023-24 season with a 16-16 overall record, including a 10-6 record in the Big South Conference and played in the 2024 WNIT.
K-State will make its first true road trip of the season, traveling to College Station, Texas, to face Texas A&M on Sunday, December 8. K-State leads the overall series, 13-9.
The Aggies finished the 2023-24 season with a 19-13 overall record, including a 6-10 mark in the SEC. Texas A&M fell in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
The Wildcats will challenge Middle Tennessee State in the second annual Bill Snyder Basketball Classic on Saturday, December 14, in St. Joseph, Missouri, at Civic Arena at 5 p.m. Ticket information for the Bill Snyder Classic will be released in mid- to late-August. K-State leads the all-time series against the Blue Raiders, 2-1. Middle Tennessee State won the last meeting between the schools, 63-49, on Dec. 21, 2010, in San Antonio, Texas.
Middle Tennessee completed the 2023-24 season with a 30-5 overall mark and an unblemished 16-0 record Conference USA. The Blue Raiders reached the second round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament, falling at LSU under the guidance of head coach Rick Insell.
K-State will close out its 2024-25 non-conference regular season schedule on Tuesday, December 17, as K-State hosts New Mexico State. This will be the first time the Cats and Aggies will face each other. New Mexico State carded a 13-18 overall record and a 6-10 mark in Conference USA.
In preparation for the 2024-25 non-conference schedule, K-State will host Washburn on Wednesday, October 30, for an exhibition game.
The Wildcats enter the 2024-25 season with the return of 10 letter winners, including four starters from last season’s 2024 NCAA Tournament squad. The Wildcats will be led by 2024 All-American center Ayoka Lee, who returns for her final season, senior guard and 2023 All-Big 12 First Team selection Serena Sundell, and the senior duo of Brylee Glenn and Jaelyn Glenn.
The 10 returning letter winners were responsible for 85 percent of K-State’s scoring, 87 percent of the team’s rebounds and 81 percent of the team’s rebounding in the 2023-24 season. The Wildcats will also welcome transfers Temira Poindexter and Kennedy Taylor and redshirts Mikayla Parks and Alexis Hess and freshman Finley Ohnstad.
The 2024-25 Big 12 schedule, game times, promotional and television schedules will be released later this summer.
The 2025 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship will be contested at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri, from March 5-10, 2025. Ticket information will be available later this year.
