After a 14-year hiatus, No. 18 Kansas State and Colorado rekindled their old-Big 8/Big 12 rivalry with a 31-28 road win that saw the Wildcats (5-1, 2-1) lead by as much as 14 before the Buffaloes (4-2, 2-1) stampeded their way back to provide a very entertaining fourth quarter Saturday at Folsom Field.
A 50-yard bomb from sophomore quarterback Avery Johnson to sophomore wide receiver Jayce Brown put K-State back ahead with a little more than two minutes to play.
The touchdown was Johnson’s second of the day. It was also the second to Brown, who also snagged a 1-yarder on K-State’s first drive of the second half.
Johnson was 15-of-23 for 224 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.
