The Riley County Police Department is investigating a scam involving a suspect posing as a victim’s boss.
RCPD officers filed a report of theft on Wednesday around 11:30 a.m. in the 3400 block of Chimney Rock Road, where they listed a 27-year-old female as the victim when an unknown suspect sent emails and text messages posing as the victim’s boss asking her to purchase gift cards and send pictures of the gift cards.
The total loss associated with this report is $1,200, an anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers.
