Both candidates for the Kansas Senate District 22 seat see abortion as a top priority, but they differ greatly in their approaches to the issue.
That — as well as their contrasting views on healthcare and the economy — was on full display Wednesday as Democratic incumbent Usha Reddi and Republican challenger Brad Starnes squared off in a debate at the K-State Student Union.
The debate was part of a series of events allowing candidates to speak directly to voters put on by the K-State Young Democrats, the Riley County Republican Party, the K-State political science department and its Institute for Civic Discource and Democracy. Those groups also held a debate between state House of Representatives candidates Kim Zito and Angel Roeser along with a town hall featuring Rep. Sydney Carlin.
