A new fire station north of Manhattan could break ground as early as next week if all goes smoothly, officials said.
Riley County officials on Monday unanimously approved the special use and platting of 0.3 acres of land into a single lot for a new rural fire station. The site is at 7412 Redbud Drive along Tuttle Creek Lake.
County planner Bob Isaac said fire District 1, Station 110 will serve the University Park area. The University Park improvement district is transferring the land to the county.
