    Unemployment down across the region in September

    Unemployment remained unchanged in the state of Kansas for the month of September from the month of August.

    Unemployment remains at 3.3% in the state of Kansas but was down to 3.1% in Riley County and 2.7% in Pottawatomie County. The drop to 3.1% in Riley County is down 0.7% from 3.8% in the month of August.

    Unemployment is also down in Geary County to 4.3% and Wabaunsee saw a drop to 2.9%. Dickinson County saw a significant drop from 6% in August to 3.1% in September. Since Sept. 2023, Kansas’ seasonally adjusted total nonfarm jobs have increased by 19,200. This change is due to an increase of 16,500 private sector jobs and increase of 2,700 government jobs.
