One was taken to a local hospital on Friday morning following an injury accident on US-24 in Pottawatomie County.
The accident occurred just after 7:30 a.m. in the eastbound lane of U.S. 24 near Blackjack Road when a 2024 Kia Telluride driven by Michael Pilat, 57, of St. George was stopped at a stop sign. Pilat attempted to cross the road onto the eastbound lanes but never saw Awa Massounga Bora who was driving a 2016 Nissan Versa.
The Nissan then proceeded to strike the Kia causing the accident. Massounga Bora was taken to KU-Medical for a suspected serious injury. Pilat was not injured in the crash.
